කොළඹ  දකුණ ශාන්ත  ඇලෝසියස් දෙව්සත්හල බස්නාහිර පළාතේ කොළඹ දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ කොළඹ  අධ්‍යාපන කලාපයේ බොරැල්ල කොට්ඨාසය තුළ පිහිටා ඇති C1 වර්ගයේ පාසලකි.  9 වන ශ්‍රේණියේ සිට 13  වන ශ්‍රේණිය දක්වා පාසල් පන්ති පැවැත්වෙන අතර  අධ්‍යයන පොදු සහතික පත්‍ර උසස් පෙළ විභාගය සඳහා කලා  අංශයේ දරුවන් මෙම පාසල තුළ ඉගෙනුම  ලබයි.මෙම දෙව්සත්හලේ තුළ ඉගෙනුම ලබන සිසුන් කතෝලික සභාව තුළ පූජක වරය බලාපොරොත්තුවෙන් තම අධ්‍යයන කටයුතු හදාරන සිසුන් ය.

කොළඹ 08 සාන්ත ඇලෝසියස් දෙව්සත්හලේ අයිතිකරු ලෙස කොළඹ අගරදගුරු පදවියේ රදගුරුතුමන් කටයුතු කරන අතර සෑම විය හියදමක්ම කොළඹ අගරදගුරු පදවිය විසින් දරන අතර මෙම දෙව්සත්හල තුළ පිරිමි දරුවන් නේවාසිකව ම රැදී සිට  කතෝලික පියතුමකු වීමට තම පුහුණුවීම් කටයුතු සිදු කරයි.

මෙම දෙව්සත්හලේ ප‍්‍රධානියා (අදියුරු පියතුමා / විදුහල්පති පියතුමා) කොළඹ පදවියේ අගරදගුරු තුමන් විසින් පත් කරන අතර ඔහු කතෝලික පූජා ප‍්‍රසාදිතුමකු විය යුතුය. දෙව්සත්හලේ පාසල සඳහා ගුරුභවතුන් පැමිණෙන අතර ඔවුන් රජයේ ගුරු සේවයේ ලියාපදිංචි විශ‍්‍රාම වැටුප් ලැබිය හැකි ගුරුභවතුන් ලෙස ද, කොළඹ අගරදගුරුපදවියේ කතෝලික ගුරුභවතුන් ලෙසද, කොන්ත‍්‍රාත් පදනම මත සේවයට බඳවා ගත් ගුරුභවතුන් ලෙස ද, විශේෂිත දීමනා පදනම් කරගෙන  බඳවා ගත් ගුරුභවතුන් ලෙස ද මෙම දෙව්සත්හල තුළ ගුරුභවතුන් සේවයෙහි නියුක්තවේ. කොළඹ පදවියේ අගරදගුරු තුමන් විසින් පත් කරන කතෝලික පූජා ප‍්‍රසාදිතුමන්ලාද මෙම දෙව්සත්හලේ සේවය කරයි.

1.The way we came

Colombo South Saint Aloysius’ Seminary is   C1 type school located in Borella Division of Colombo Education Zone and it is in Colombo District. Further it belongs to the Western Province also. School classes are held from grade 09 to grade 13.  Boys of the Seminary studies in art stream when they come to the advanced level studies. The students who study in this seminary are students who are studying for the priesthood in the Roman Catholic Church.

The Bishop of the Colombo Archdiocese works as the owner of St. Aloysius’ Seminary, Colombo 08 and boys stay in this seminary and continue their training to become a Roman Catholic priest.

The head of the seminary (the rector or the principal) is appointed by the Archbishop of the Colombo Diocese and he must be a Catholic Priest. The teachers come to the school of the seminary can obtain pension from the government at the end of their teaching service until then their salaries are paid by the Archdiocese of Colombo.

විසිඑක් වන  සියවස සඳහා දැනුමින් හා කුසලතා වලින් පිරිපුන් පූජක පරපුරක් කොළඹ අගරදගුරුගුරු පදවියට දානය කිරීම සඳහා කොළඹ 08 සාන්ත ඇලෝසියස් දෙව්සත්හල පසුගිය වසර ගණනාවක් පටන් විවිධ වූ ක‍්‍රියාමාර්ග ගනිමින් නූතන යුගයට සරිලන පරිදි පූජක පුහුණුව පවත්වා ගෙන යාමට කටයුතු දරා ඇත. එම කටයුතු සංවිධානය කිරීමේදී හුදෙක් අධ්‍යාපනය පමණක් නොව ක‍්‍රීඩා කටයුතු, සෞන්දර්යාත්මක කටයුතු, අධ්‍යාත්මික කටයුතු, පූජකයෙකු ලෙස අනාගතයේ ජීවත්වීම සඳහා දෙව්සත්හල් සිසුවකුට අවශ්‍ය ප‍්‍රායෝගික දැනුම හා ආකල්ප වර්ධනය සඳහා විශේෂ වැඩමුළු වලින් හා  දෛනික කාල සටහනේ ක‍්‍රියාකාරකම් මඟින් වර්තමානයේ පවතින දෛනික කාල සටහන යාවත් කාලීන කර ඇත.

 

වර්තමානය තුළ දෙව්සත්හල නවීන තාක්ෂණයේ සහය නොමදව ලබා ගනිමින් දරුවන්ගේ චින්තන හැකියාවන් හා කුසලතාවයන් ද අනාගත පූජක සේවයේ උන්නතිය සඳහා යොදා ගත හැකි ආකාරයන් විමර්ශනය කරමින්, විසි එක්වන සියවස තුළ වඩා ඵලදායි ධර්මදූත  සේවාවක් සඳහා කතෝලික පියවරුන් පුහුණු  කිරීමේ කර්තව්‍ය සඳහා දෙව්සත්හල මූලික අඩිතාලම දමමින් සිටී. ඒ සඳහා අවශ්‍ය තාක්ෂණික දැනුම,  ප‍්‍රායෝගික දැනුම, සොයා යාමේ අවස්ථාවන් ශිෂ්‍යයන් හට ලබා දීම දෙව්සත්හලේ ගුරුභවතුන්ගේ මූලික අරමුණක් බවට පත් වී ඇති බව සඳහන් කිරීම අතිශයින් ම වැදගත්ය. වර්තමාන සමාජය තුළ දෙව්සත්හල විසි එක්වන සියවසේ කුසලතාවයන් වලින් පරිපූර්ණ පුජක සිසුවා ගොඩනැගීම සඳහා ප‍්‍රයත්න දරමින් සිටින කාලපරිච්ඡේදයක් ලෙස මෙම වර්තමාන කාලපරිච්ඡ්දය මා හට හැඳින්විය හැකිය.

2.The current direction of the Seminary

In order to endow a generation of priests full of knowledge and skills to the Archdiocese of Colombo for the 21st century, Colombo 8, St. Aloysius’ Seminary has taken various measures to maintain priestly training in accordance with the modern era. In organizing activities, not only education, but activities such as sports activities, aesthetic activities, spiritual activities, the practical knowledge and attitude development of a seminarian are organized for the future life of a seminarians. To achieve that the current daily schedule of the seminary has been updated with special workshops and daily activities. It is extremely important to mention that providing the students with the necessary technical knowledge, practical knowledge, and opportunities. Teachers of the seminary do find out many ways and means to achieve that goal in the lives of seminarians.

In today's society, the seminary is making efforts to build a holy seminarian with the skills of the twenty-first century. At present, the seminary is continuously using the support of modern technology and investigating the ways in which children's thinking abilities and skills can be used for the advancement of future priestly mission.

කොළඹ අගරදගුරු පදවිය තුළ සාන්ත ඇලෝසියස් දෙව්සත්හල පුජක පුතුන් බිහි කිරීම සඳහා විශාල පරිශ‍්‍රමයක් දරමින් සිටී. වර්තමානය තුළ අගරදගුරු පදවිය මඟින් පත්කර ඇති කැඳවීම් භාර ගරු පූජා ප‍්‍රසාදිතුමන්ගේ ද සහාය ඇතිව අගරදගුරු පදවියේ විවිධ මීසම්වලින් දරුවන් මෙම දෙව්සත්හලට කැඳවා ගන්නටත් ඒ අනුව පූජක පුහුණුව සඳහා දරුවන් බොහෝමයකට අවස්ථාව ලබා දීම ට අප කටයුතු කර ඇත. මේ වන විට 9 වන ශ්‍රේණියේ සිට 13 වන ශ්‍රේණිය දක්වා ද උසස් පෙළ හැදෑරූ දරුවන් කිහිප දෙනෙකු ගෙන් ද සමන්විතව ඇති දෙව්සත්හල සමස්ත ශිෂ්‍ය සංඛ්‍යාව 175 ලෙස දැක්විය හැකිය.

3.Current status

In the Archdiocese of Colombo, St. Aloysius’ Seminary is making great efforts to nurture future priests. At present, with the support of the priest who is in charge of priestly vocations of the archdiocese of Colombo, we have arranged to invite children from various sessions of the archdiocese. At present, the total number of students in the seminary is 175, which consists of students from 9th grade to 13th grade and some children who have got through the advanced level examination.

සාන්ත ඇලෝසියස් දෙව්සත්හලේ ආදර්ශ පාඨය වනුයේ  “යා යුතු මඟ පෙන්වන්න” යනුයි  (Lead us where we go). අපගේ කතෝලික විශ්වාසය අනුව දෙවිඳුන්ගෙන් වරම් ලද කැඳවීමක් තුළ දෙව්සත්හල් දිවියට පා තබන සිසුවා කතෝලික දහමෙන් ලැබෙන පෝෂණය පෙරදැරි කරගෙන තම අධ්‍යාත්මික වර්ධනය නිසි කලට පරිපූර්ණ කර ගෙන දේව හඬට ඇහුම්කන් දෙමින් යාච්ඤාශීලීව දෙව්සත්හල තුළ ගමන් කරනුයේ තමන්ගේ හුදු අභිප‍්‍රායක් ඉටු කර ගැනීමට නොව දේව  සේවය සඳහා ඇප කැපවීමේ අරමුණෙනි.

 

දෙව්සත්හල තුළ ඉගෙනුම ලබන දරුවා දෙව්සත්හලෙන් පිට වී යන කල එම දරුවා තුළ සාරධර්ම පද්ධතියක් කතෝලික ධර්මය අනුව ගොඩනගා ගෙන තිබීම අපගේ ඒකායන අරමුණ ය. එම අරමුණ ඉටුකර ගැනීමට ලාංකීය සමාජය තුළ පවතින අධ්‍යාපනයේ මූලික අංගයන් වන අධ්‍යයන පොදු සහතික පත‍්‍ර සාමාන්‍ය පෙළ විභාගය හා අධ්‍යයන පොදු සහතික පත‍්‍ර උසස් පෙළ විභාගය මෙම දරුවන් සමත් වීම අත්‍යවශ්‍ය ම කරුණක් ලෙස සැලකිය හැකිය.

 

තම අනාගත අරමුණු ක‍්‍රියාත්මක කිරීම සඳහා සිංහල, ඉංග‍්‍රීසි, දමිළ, ලතින් යන භාෂාවන් අධ්‍යනය කර තිබීම ද දෙව්සත්හලේ දරුවෙකුගේ අධ්‍යාපන ජීවිතයේ කඩඉම් ලෙස දැක්විය හැකිය. ජාතික දෙව්සත්හලට තෝරාපත් කරනු ලබන ඉංග‍්‍රීසි විභාගය ද මෙම දරුවන් සමත් වීම අත්‍යවශ්‍ය කාරණාවක් වී ඇත. ඒ සඳහා ඉංග‍්‍රීසි බස මනාව ලිවීමට හා මනාව භාවිත කිරීමට ඇති කුසලතාවය මෙම දරුවන් වර්ධනය කර ගැනීම අතිශයින්ම වැදගත්ය. දෙව්සත්හල් සිසුවාගේ ආකල්ප නිසි ආකාරයෙන් වර්ධනය වීම ද කතෝලික අධ්‍යාත්මික මතයක් තුළ සිටිමින් තම සේවාව අනාගතයේ දී දියත් කිරීමට දරුවා තුළ ත්‍යාගශීලී ජීවිත ක‍්‍රමයක් ගොඩනැගී තිබිය යුතු බව දෙව්සත්හල තුළ ඉගෙනුම් ඉගැන්වීම් ක‍්‍රියාවලිය සිදු කරන අප කාගේත් මතය බව සඳහන් කළ යුතුය.

 

Where should we go?

The motto of Saint Aloysius’ Seminary is "Lead us where we go". According to our Catholic faith, the students who enter to the seminary life in a God given vocation, develop the vocation to the priesthood by listening to the voice of God, walking in the seminary life in prayer and dedicating himself to the service of God.

 

It is our common goal that when the child who studies in the seminary leaves the seminary, a value system has been built in that child according to the Catholic doctrine. In order to achieve that goal, it can be considered that these children pass the General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level Examination and the Advanced Level Examination of the General Certificate of Education, which are the basic requirements of the Sri Lankan education.

 

Having studied Sinhala, English, Tamil and Latin languages in order to implement their future goals can also be mentioned as the milestones in the educational life of a child in the seminary. It has become essential for these children to pass the English exam to be elected to the National Seminary in Kandy Sri Lanka. For that, it is extremely important that these children develop the ability to write and use the English language well.

 

It should be mentioned that the attitude of the Seminarian should develop in a proper way and that a generous way of life should be developed in the child to launch his service in the future as a Catholic priest while being in a Catholic spiritual and doctrinal opinion.

5. අපේක්ෂිත ප්‍රතිඵලතිඵල ළඟා කර ගන්නේ කවදාද ?

සාන්ත ඇලෝසියස් දෙව්සත්හල තුළ ඉගෙනුම ලබන දරුවෙකු අපේක්ෂිත අරමුණු ඉටු කර ගන්නේ කෙදින ද? යන පැනයට පිළිතුරු දිය හැක්කේ එම සිසු දරුවන් කතෝලික සභාව තුළ කොළඹ අගරදගුරු පදවියේ පූජා ප‍්‍රසාදීන් වහන්සේලා ලෙස පූජක වරම් ලැබීමෙන් හා එම ලැබූ පූජකවරය තුළ සේවය කරන ආකාරය මත බව සටහන් කිරීම වැදගත්ය. එම නිසාම දෙව්සත්හලේ සිසුන් තම අපේක්ෂාවන් කරා යොමු කිරීම දීර්ඝකාලීන වැඩ පිළිවෙළක් බව මතක් කර දිය යුතුය. ශ්‍රී ලංකා සමාජය තුළ මුලික කඩයිම් විභාගයන් සමත් වෙමින් මනාව සිංහල බස, ඉංග‍්‍රීසි බස හා දමිළ බස හැසිරවීමේ හැකියාවක් ලබා ගැනීම ඉතාමත් වැදගත් බව ද දැන්විය යුතුය.

 

5. When will the desired results be achieved?

When will a seminarian achieve the desired goals? It is important to note that the answer to the question depends on how the students receive their priestly mandate as priests of the Archdiocese of Colombo in the Catholic Church and how they serve as priest in the future. That is why, it should be reminded that directing the seminarians to their expectations is a long-term work.

6.අපේක්ෂිත ප්‍රතිඵලතිඵල ළඟා කර ගැනීම සඳහා උපායමාර්ග සම්පත්වල  අවශ්‍යතාව

දෙව්සත්හල තුළ පුජක පුහුණුව ලබන දරුවා නිසි ලෙස සමාජයට හිතකර හා යහපත් පුජකයකු බවට පත්කර ගැනීම සඳහා දරුවාගේ දැනුම, දරුවාගේ ආකල්ප, දරුවාගේ හැසිරීම් රටා, කතෝලික ආගමික පසුබිම තුළ ගොඩනැගීම අතිශයින්ම වැදගත්ය. එම කටයුතු සංවිධානය කිරීම සඳහා නවීන තාක්ෂණික උපකරණ, එලෙසම නේවාසිකාගාර පහසුකම් වැඩි දියුණු කිරීම, සනීීපාරක්ෂක පහසුකම් සැපයීම අතිශයින්ම වැදගත් බව මතක් කළ යුතුය. පාසල් පද්ධතිය තුළ නවීන තාක්ෂණ උපකරණ භාවිතයෙන් ඉගෙනුම් ඉගැන්වීම් ක‍්‍රියාවලිය සඳහා අප යොමු වීම ද වැදගත් බව මා මෙහිදී මතක් කිරීමට කැමැත්තෙමි.  නවීන ලෝකයේ අවශ්‍යයතාවයන් මනාව අවබෝධ කර ගත් අදියුරු නැතහොත්  විදුහල්පති  පියතුමෙකු විසින් මෙම ආයතනය පාලනය කිරීම අතිශයින්ම වැදගත්ය. එලෙසම ඔහු වටා සිටින්නාවු සහයක පූජකවරු ද කැපවීමෙන් හා එකම චින්තන රටාවක් තුළ සිටිමින් දරුවන්ට නිසි මඟ පෙන්වීම ඉතාමත් වැදගත් කරුණක් ලෙස දැක්විය හැකිය. 21 වන සියවස තුළ වඩාත් යෝග්‍යය පුජක සිසුවකු ගොඩනැගීම සඳහා අවශ්‍ය දැනුමෙන් හෙබි කි‍්‍රයාශීලී ගුරුභවතුන් පිරිසක් අප හට අනිවාර්්‍යයෙන්ම සිටිය යුතුය. දෙව්සත්හලේ දරුවන් නේවාසිකව දිනය පුරා දෙව්සත්හලේ රැඳී සිටින  බැවින් දෙව්සත්හලේ පහසුකම් ඉතාමත් උපරිම මට්ටමකින් පැවතිය යුතු බව මාගේ හැඟීමයි. ඒසඳහා ඇප කැප වී වැඩ කටයුතු කරන සේවක මහතුන් සඳහා උසස් මට්ටමේ පිළිගැනීමක් හා වේතනයක් ලබාදීම ද අතිශයින්ම වැදගත් බව කිව යුතුය.

6. Requirement of strategy resources to achieve desired outcomes.

 

It is extremely important to build the child's knowledge, child's attitudes, child's behavior patterns in the Catholic religious background in order to make the child who receives priestly training in the church to become a good and a holy priest. To organize these activities, modern technical equipment should be introduced to the seminary.

I would like to remind here that it is also important that we focus on the learning and teaching process using the modern technological equipment in the school system. It is extremely important that this institution is controlled by a rector or principal who understands the needs of the modern world well. In the same way, the assistant priests who are around him, are dedicated and in the same way of thinking pattern.

In the 21st century, we must have a group of active teachers who have the necessary knowledge to build the most suitable seminarian for the future. I feel that the facilities of the seminary should be at the highest level since the seminarians stay in the church throughout the day. It must be said that it is extremely important to give a high level of recognition and remuneration to the employees who have committed themselves to this institution.
